Birmingham Central Library is located in the heart of the second largest city in the UK. Its opening is scheduled for September 3, 2013, when it officially replaced the old library, and will be the largest not only in the country but also throughout Europe cultural complex. Designed by the Dutch bureau Mecanoo, a library surrounded by historical buildings and occupies a central place on the busiest pedestrian street. Monumental construction total area of 35,000 square meters. m interested in a contemporary design that combines innovative technology and futuristic elements of Art Deco style. It is presented as overhead and underground levels and terraces open and closed plan. In addition to the primary purpose, the library building will host workshops, shows and installations, fun for all ages, for the local population and tourists.
