From 1892 until 1954 Ellis Island was the gateway into the United States for over 12 million immigrants. In 1965 the island was made part of the Statue of Liberty National Monument. Many immigrants were photographed on the historic island, and now the black and white photos have been colorized to show a whole new look at history.
