Lahaina Noon Causes Shadows To Stand Up Straight

Twice a year Hawaiian locals get to enjoy an incredible phenomenon known as "Lahaina Noon." It happens when the sun passes exactly overhead at solar noon (the subsolar point) and causes the shadows to stand straight up.
